Mayor Bowman Congratulates Winnipeg soccer player Desiree Scott on Gold medal win in Tokyo

Winnipeg, Friday, August 20, 2021 – Committed to recognizing the achievements of Winnipeggers participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Mayor Brian Bowman today presented the City of Winnipeg Outstanding Achievement Award Medallion to Olympic Champion Desiree Scott. 

“Winnipeg had many talented athletes representing our city and country at the 2020 Olympics,” said Mayor Bowman. “It is important that we recognize the achievements of our Winnipeg athletes and remind our youth that anything is possible if you strive to do your best.  We are fortunate to have Desiree and all of the other Winnipeg athletes that represented Canada as positive role models for our youth.”

The City of Winnipeg Outstanding Achievement Award Medallions is an honour bestowed to Gold Medal Olympic Champions based or residing in Winnipeg.
