THE LEAF – CANADA’S DIVERSITY GARDENS RECOGNIZED WITH HONOURARY STREET NAMING
WINNIPEG – Today, Mayor Bowman announced the honourary renaming of Corydon Avenue between Park Boulevard North and Shaftesbury Boulevard in celebration of The Leaf – Canada’s Diversity Gardens at the Assiniboine Park Conservancy.
“The completion of the outdoor phase of The Leaf – Canada’s Diversity Gardens is a remarkable achievement.,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “the Assiniboine Park Conservancy and its partners, donors, and supporters are worthy of special recognition from our city.”
“Congratulations to everyone at the Assiniboine Park Conservancy on this extraordinary accomplishment,” said Mayor Bowman. “All of your hard work has created another world class destination that is helping to put Winnipeg on the global map.”
The Assiniboine Park Conservancy The Leaf – Canada’s Diversity Gardens is the final major phase in the redevelopment of Assiniboine Park and Zoo that was launched in 2009. The project consists of: Gardens at The Leaf, The Leaf (opening late 2022). The entire attraction (building and surrounding gardens) spans approximately 35 acres in the southeast corner of Assiniboine Park. It is a world-class attraction that is uniquely Canadian and of national significance.
Honourary “The Leaf Way” signs will be installed today and will remain in place for the next five years after which they will be donated to the Assiniboine Park Conservancy.
